St. Joe's Social Studies Curriculum
 
In social studies, 7th graders learned about the Ukrainian craft of pysanky eggs an the meaning behind their unique colors and symbols.

Kindergartners made Navajo dream-catchers.


While learning more about the United States in Social Studies, Grade 6 created classroom flags to go along with our Classroom Constitution. We will vote on our favorite flag to represent our class.

Kindergarten had fun painting and learning about the world by making their own globes!


After the second graders watched a live webcast from Plymouth Colony, they played a game called "Sail on the Mayflower".
Grade 2 builds a community complete with goods and services!   While studying the Midwest regions, fourth graders created pyramid dioramas to show the different landforms and climate that are found in the Midwest.
Using the SMART Board, fourth grade students are learning the shapes and locations of the fifty states.

Grade 3 works on culture projects that show the United States is a melting pot of cultures.

Third graders search for countries using the world map.


Grade 5 researched famous people and then presented real-life versions to the class!

Students in Grade 5 researched their family heritage. They interviewed their parents and grandparents, and put together a presentation full of family stories, heirlooms, and traditional foods.


Grade 6 creates 3-D models of China. Grade 8 shares recipes and customs from their family heritage.

Eighth graders work together to create colonial villages out of popsicle sticks.

Eighth graders celebrated Black History Month by researching those who have positively affected American society.
